The school department I work in recently started an after school guitar program. This program is being offered to all students from grades 5 through 12. While I'm just the "computer guy" there, I was still quite eager to get invovled. One of the first things I offered to do was to take home, and test out, the recently dontated guitars. I was pretty pumped when the music teacher broke this axe out as I had never see one before.
This is a Silver Fender Showmaster Cetlic H guitar. Don't be fooled by it's single humbucker and volume knob. This guitar plays and sounds pretty decent. The action was far better than the first guitar I played as a young lad. As you might expect you can't get a variety of tones out of this beauty on it's own. This is quite noticable when playing with a clean tone, but the distored hummer cranks!
This may not be a U.S.A.Fender Stratocaster, but it still playes really well and has a heavy sounds that some younger generation players may be looking for. There is one of these selling for $350 on eBay right now. While this is not something I would purchase for $350, I would say it is worth the money if you're looking for a super light, unique guitar, with killer action.
The Specs on this Fender are listed below: - Set Neck- Maple with Rosewood Fingerboard - 25 1/2" Scale - Graphite Nut - 24 Jumbo Frets - Super Slim Contoured Basswood Body - Contoured Carved Top - Smoked Chrome Hardware - String through Body Hard Tail Bridge - Celtic Octave Fret Inlay - Finish: Silver (591)
